Savannah Professional Maintenance’s janitorial staff is trained to use disinfectants and proper restroom cleaning protocols. This is important for many reasons, but most of all to minimize cross contamination from the restroom to other areas.

It is important to apply appropriately mixed disinfectant to the entire toilet bowl surface, inside and out. You should mist your bowl brush with disinfectant before and after use. Disinfectant should sit on the surface for at least 10 minutes and it is best to use a disposable towel to wipe the bowl bases, outside of bowl, rims, and back. A fresh towel should be used for the handle and hand rails and stall hardware. A towel used in a bathroom should never touch another surface and should be thrown away or placed in an airtight bag for proper washing protocols.

The same process should be used to clean counters, sinks. Bathroom floors should be mopped with a disinfectant solution and clean water.

The most important aspect of disinfecting a bathroom is repeating the process throughout the day. If a bathroom is highly used, it is important to have a day porter to disinfect it throughout the day.
